The TrendSetter water heating system is a drain-back freeze protected system. The water drains out of the collectors each time the solar pump turns off leaving no water in the system to freeze. The system can be modified to operate as a closed loop system filled with special non-toxic polypropylene glycol. This will require an additional heat exchanger and expansion tank.
